The course of training
4 years bound to make it.
It takes 4 years to become a Plastics Processing Technician. Of this, 55-60 weeks is spent at a technical school. You will have 20 weeks at school as a start: ”basic training course”. Here you get aquainted with several of the educations belonging to the same family. Upon this, you will work in practice in the company that has apprenticed you. Later comes the ”main training course”: school intervals of 10 weeks’ duration, the last one including a final test to complete the apprenticeship.
It is an option to start in the firm.
Having made the 2. main course, you have the option of leaving your technician education and be certified as a plastics processing assistant. Which means that your can work in the trade with what skill you have obtained. If, at a later stage, you wish to complete your education and become technician, you will need a new apprenticeship in order to finish the residual part.
Profile
Technical College Of Jutland is the only place in Denmark where you can accomplish an education as a plastics processing technician. This education was started in 1988, and the plastics department is the youngest at TCJ. Since the beginning we have trained approx. 500 plastics technicians, and the trend is that the demand from the country’s plastics companies exceed the number we can train. This means that unemployment among skilled plastics technicians is close to zero.
The plastics department is characterized by being a young team of teachers who jointly organize and plan the teaching for every school interval, at a high professional level. The department is of a dynamic nature and will adapt quickly to changes in regulations issued by the Ministry Of Education.
The fact that the college is a 24-hour school means that you have a range of workshop facilities at your disposal when normal lessons are over. Moreover, some evenings you can have coaching if needed.
It is the department’s aim to train plastics processing technicians individually, according to the demands that the particular apprentice make, in a close dialogue with him/her and with the companies. At our disposal we have equipment to train in all processing methods within plastics production, both for thermoplastics and thermosetting plastics. This equipment is currently supplemented according to demands and development in the industry.
The plastics department will ensure that the demands for in-service training in the plastics trade can be met. This could be either at this college or in the field with the companies.
